Presidential Listening Sessions

In 2026, President Cantwell will gather with various WSU communities for a series of open forums. These conversations will address opportunities, challenges, and institutional priorities, providing a platform for community members to share their ideas, contribute to strategic planning, and support the university’s continued success.

Questions for Consideration

Five key questions have been selected for focused feedback and discussion in upcoming open forum sessions. President Cantwell would like the community to consider their answers to the following:

With an eye towards the needs of our future students, what is WSU’s greatest opportunity to provide better education?
Recognizing the rapid pace of societal change and the delivery of education today, what are the greatest risks that you worry will put the university off course?
What do you think the President needs to know about the Cougar community? Who are we and what do we represent?
What are the most pressing research challenges that you think we should be known for over the next decade?
What is the one thing that you think should define your campus or the WSU System for the next decade?
