Lunch with Rotary Club of Pullman

Today I attended the Rotary Club of Pullman weekly meeting, and had the opportunity to engage with community leaders over lunch at Fireside Grill.  This group is responsible for some great philanthropic efforts in the Pullman community, from canned food drives to restoring the nature trail in Pullman, and we very much appreciate their cooperation as community partners and stewards.  I spoke to them specifically about the university’s commitment to the communities in which we serve.  Most obviously that would include Pullman, Vancouver, Spokane and Tri-Cities, but as the state’s land-grant research institution, we’re deeply committed to virtually every community statewide – with extension offices and research stations in every county.  I also expressed a desire to become a Pullman Rotarian, which I think was greeted warmly.  I look forward to becoming more involved in their efforts, and serving the interests of Washington State University and our community.
